Metal ‘mask’ in the form of a boar’s head, C19th. This is probably Panjuli, the minor deity revered in the bhuta cult of the south Kanara coast (south-western Karnataka). Sculptures such as this are not for wearing but act as the form of the god during pūjā; they are murtis. (via British Museum)
